Sub-tracks of

Burn Management and Scar Revision

Burn management and scar revision represent critical aspects of dermatologic and reconstructive care, focusing on restoring both the function and aesthetics of the skin following thermal, chemical, electrical, or radiation injuries. Effective burn care requires a multidisciplinary approach that integrates acute management, infection control, wound healing optimization, and long-term rehabilitation to minimize morbidity and enhance quality of life.

The acute management of burns involves prompt assessment of burn depth and extent, fluid resuscitation, infection prevention, and pain control. Advances in wound care technologies, including bioengineered skin substitutes, hydrocolloid dressings, and negative pressure wound therapy, have significantly improved healing outcomes and reduced complications. Early excision and grafting techniques, coupled with advances in regenerative medicine and stem cell–based therapies, are further revolutionizing burn reconstruction.

Scar formation remains a major concern following burn injury, often leading to functional limitations and psychosocial distress. Recent innovations in scar revision—including fractional laser therapy, microneedling, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), silicone-based treatments, and surgical remodeling—have demonstrated remarkable efficacy in improving texture, pliability, and pigmentation of post-burn scars. Additionally, laser-assisted drug delivery and energy-based devices are expanding therapeutic possibilities for hypertrophic and keloid scars.

The session on Burn Management and Scar Revision will bring together dermatologists, plastic surgeons, researchers, and rehabilitation specialists to discuss state-of-the-art advancements in burn care, scar prevention, and reconstructive dermatology. Participants will gain insights into novel therapeutic techniques, multidisciplinary management strategies, and innovative technologies that are transforming outcomes for burn survivors and enhancing post-injury skin restoration.
