Skin Aging and Anti-Aging Therapies
Skin aging is a complex, multifactorial process influenced by intrinsic biological mechanisms and extrinsic environmental factors. It manifests clinically through fine lines, wrinkles, loss of elasticity, uneven pigmentation, and dryness, reflecting both cellular senescence and cumulative external damage. Understanding the molecular pathways underlying skin aging has been pivotal in developing advanced therapeutic and preventive interventions aimed at preserving skin health and vitality.
Intrinsic or chronological aging is driven by genetic programming, telomere shortening, hormonal changes, and reduced cellular turnover. In contrast, extrinsic aging—or photoaging—is primarily induced by ultraviolet radiation, pollution, and oxidative stress, leading to collagen degradation, elastin damage, and dermal remodeling. The convergence of these processes disrupts the structural integrity and regenerative capacity of the skin.
Recent advances in dermatologic science have introduced a wide range of anti-aging therapies, including topical retinoids, antioxidants, peptides, and growth factors that target cellular repair and collagen synthesis. Procedural interventions such as chemical peels, microneedling, radiofrequency, and energy-based devices complement pharmacologic approaches by stimulating dermal remodeling and neocollagenesis. Furthermore, regenerative strategies involving platelet-rich plasma (PRP), stem cell–based treatments, and exosome therapy are emerging as frontiers in aesthetic and restorative dermatology.
The session on Skin Aging and Anti-Aging Therapies will bring together dermatologists, researchers, and aesthetic experts to discuss the latest breakthroughs in skin biology, rejuvenation science, and clinical applications. Participants will gain insights into evidence-based interventions, personalized treatment planning, and holistic approaches that promote healthy aging, enhance skin resilience, and optimize aesthetic outcomes.
